Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray is a community in Alberta located about 430 km North of Edmonton. This being the first project Adco has had in Fort McMurray we were pleased to have it go well and look forward to taking on further work in Northern Alberta.

Our client, The Municipality of Wood Buffalo, required back up power for their existing sewage treatment plant.

Our task, then, was the installation of a 500 kW generator, complete with transfer switch, cooling vents and retrofit of wiring on the existing transformer. We found our biggest challenge in making the old main breaker work with the new transfer switch.

The genset and control package was supplied and tested by Simson Maxwell, our sister company within the greater SIMMAX Corp. organization, who continue to be a good fit for Adco as we continue to make in-roads into the Alberta Construction Market.

With our mandate to not only develop and distribute power systems, but to solve power problems the nature and scope of this project is one that we anticipate encountering more frequently with the increasingly unpredictable energy market.
