Grand Cayman Island

C.U.C. Power Station Extension

This 8.8 MW powerplant extension on Grand Cayman Island saw ADCO Power given responsibility for the engineering, procurement and construction work. This entire project required special attention, as the building originally housed a turtle cannery and was never intended to serve as a powerhouse!

Equipment from Edmonton and two 3616 gensets from the Caterpillar Large Engine Centre in Lafayette, Indiana were shipped by rail to Miami, and then by ship to Grand Cayman. Trucks and heavy equipment brought in from Miami were used to transport the engines from the dock to the site. The project was completed on time and on budget in January 1999.
