The Adco Group recognizes the importance of supporting our local community as well as those communities that we have opportunity to work in. We believe that being a good corporate citizen greatly contributes to our overall success as a company.

Locally, we have had opportunity to sponsor a number of sports teams including the Sherwood Park Rangers U13 Girls, as well as supporting our local AAA baseball team the Edmonton Trappers. We have also enjoyed being a contributing member of Beaumont High School Bandit's Race Car development program.

With our extensive opportunity to experience and appreciate the Northern communities of Canada, has come an immense respect for the beauty of the Aboriginal culture and history within our country. The diversity of their culture is perhaps best expressed through artistic means, the richness of their traditions and their reverence for the land which sustains them, are truly celebrated in their chosen mediums of paint and carvings.

Each year the Adco Group chooses to recognize an artist and represent their talents through our Christmas promotion. An original artwork is purchased from the artist (at times local to where we are contracted to work), and the painting is incorporated into the Christmas cards and Annual Calendar that we mail out to our clients and associates.

Our Christmas Promotion for 2004 incorporated the work of Ernie Scoles - his biography and the featured print "Protector" are included below for your appreciation.

Ernie Scoles

Ernie Scoles, a member of the Barren Lands Indian Band, was born at Cumberland House, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1962, and raised in northern Manitoba. There he developed a deep feeling for nature and wildlife, taking advantage of every opportunity to explore the woods, lakes and streams.

Influenced by the late Isaac Bignell, his mentor and friend, Ernie's work in woodland imagery reflects his Cree heritage and is found in collections throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.

In 1992, Ernie was awarded the Governor General's Canada 125 Medal for his contributions to his community. He makes his home in Saskatoon with his wife Doreen, and their four children, Davian, Amanda, Cassandra and Kalen.

City of Yellowknife - Twin Arena

The City of Yellowknife approached the business community for support and contributions in getting the second pad of the Twin Arena finished ahead of the proposed schedule. Adco has responded with donations of time and material to help in completing this project for the families of Yellowknife and area.
