Site start-up & Commissioning
This project consisted of manufacturing three 12x14 booster pumps. The primary function of these skids is to move slurry (return water and MFT-mature fine tailings) from one pond to another. Slurry and MFT is a by-product of producing oil. The major components of these skids are Caterpillar C7 industrial engines, ZF Marine 311 transmissions, custom R+W flex couplings, 12x14 LCC GIW pumps, Rosemount pressure transmitters and Murphy control panels. All three skids were manufactured in our Edmonton fabrication shop. Suncor also hired Adco to start-up, test and commission these pumps up at site, just north of Fort McMurray. Since then, Suncor has purchased another six booster skids from Adco.
